The pSCR's doesn't rely on electronics
for proper gas mixing, however you can
install a oxygen sensor which is
exclusively analizing the current mix,
usually is reading PO2 but also could
dsiplay FO2, some of the new more
advanced analizers, do also helium and
calculate decompression during the dive.

This is important to be used for ALL new
users extensively for a few hrs, in order to
properly understand when to vent the
loop or inject gas. In UTD courses is
mandatory.

As in all pSCR, oxygen PO2 drops when
the gas is re-breathed without any new
gas injection, furthermore upon ascent
the expanding gas on the loop, delays
new gas injection and could become
hypoxic well before the Rebreather
intuitive mechanism stop working, so
therefore giving the warning to late.

Critical when a gas is been re-breath
shallower than its MINiMUM operating
depth, as with hipoxic back gas breaks
or when using larger ratio counter lungs.
(7:1, 10:1, 14:1, 20:1)

We have an undergoing project in which
we develop our own pSCR rb software
"
TOUZIL" that mimics the continuos
change of PO2  and the real ratio during
the whole dive, on gassing and off
gassing. So it does help you
understanding the pSCR deco.

There are other software programs that
simulate this Oxygen drop due to
metabolism and loop volume changes,
but don't even suggest Min OD's, also
don't do deco and most use a constant
"K" factor from raw SCR constant mass
calculations (usually 27.5) and a arbitrary
rb ratio, which doesn't mirror reality.

In anyway all this info should be
thoroughly understood before diving this
machines.

All the accidents* involving this type of
units are related to poor understanding of
the O2 drop in this machines,
hipoxia and DCS, fortunately only one
was fatal, all were "certified divers" !!!

* (Brazil, Swiss, WKPP, Croatia,
Sweden)

NT series can be equipped with a O2
injection system to assist O2 drop, the
NT2 model can be fitted with up to 4 O2
sensors, sensible if adding pure O2 to
the Mix on the fly.

In 2011 there been 3 fatal accidents
involving pSCR's in cave

(WKPP, France and Cozumel)

We are happy to announce that currently
there is no diving agencie teaching
without PO2 gauge.
