Fontanazzi Cave System
Fontanazzi is a very demanding Alpine cave. with reversal flows.
The cave has a total extention of explored passages of about
2km the EOL, end of the line, is at 750 and about 130mt depth
with 7-9°C all fresh water.
The Fontanazzi is a classic Vaclusian cave that start with a
supertight major restriction where multiple roll offs are not
unheard off, I called the Bitch.
However tanks removal is not longer necessary, at the "third
step" as somebody has blown up part of the rock !
Cave diving scooters and equipment takes tremendous abuse
as it is not possible to pass with stages attached so you must
push all your gear in front of you, while you negotiate thru the
restriction, and only access to the main tunnel.
Main tunnel runs for 350mt in to a pit, this "top" level max at
40mt , with average more like 20mt. There are several side
passages at this level that allow multiple circuits, involving jumps
and T's. One of this passages also finalized in a second pit, that
as the other side pit drops to 60mt and continues in a split
tunnel with max depth of 75mt and average depth of 70mt .
Bottom tunnel runs to P650mt before dropping to max depth
130mt and actual EOL.
Nov 11 07, we meet to do a reckon dive but agree to stop
before the EOL to respect the local efforts of 14yrs of on going
explorations. The Fontanazzi Is a great cave dive large tunnels,
tight restrictions, big drops, huge rooms, deep tunnels
Fontanazzi has it all.
We choose OC and dove Zeuxo NiMH ADV14 small and robust
and did great pulling loaded diver with 3 stages. However we
already have a plan to squeeze rb n there if we get a chance.
We use 15/55, 35730, 50/25, 100% were out after 137minutes
