Nick Toussaint is an experience diver and cave explorer. He is probably the most
accomplished Mexican Cave diver and a worldwide re-known professional instructor to
all levels.
Is quite common he shares his passion and knowledge about cave diving at
conferences in various diving shows, articles and even sport TV shows around the
world.
He start cave diving in Mexico, the most wanted location for recreational cave diving and
got NACD TDI and NSS-CDS certified in the mid 90's, he has dive just about every cave
system in Mexico. Starting in Quintana Roo, Merida and Tamaulipas and explore many
of them. Also very familiar with most popular cave diving sites in Florida and Europe
In 2008 received from NSS-CDS the Sheck Exley Award, with International
endorsement, which is given for 1000 non training cave dives in at least 5 countries.
Nick was the first cave diver to take serious and safe exploration equipment to Mexico,
and is the first Mexican pSCR rb80 diver and currently one of the most experience users
in the world. He develop Touzill system to promote safer pSCR diving and offer it in a
free online website as PO2 drop calculator www.touzilsystem.com
Also introduce the first 2 long range Gavin scooters to the cave exploration scene in
Mexico, which now has a population of over 40 and several teams. Brought many ideas
to tother scooters companies.

advanced DIR scooter available the Ox bel ha White Arrow
For years testing, consulting and development of equipment for several brands, as well
as user manuals and factory training, which culminate in White Arrow, where he is
currently CEO
Together with rb80 cave explorer Shane Jeckel holds the Mexico record for longest cave
dive at 11.5hrs with a max penetration of 13000ft at with over 360ft-110mt in depth,
enduring "maximum decompression". With overall 200+ P3km cave dives, and a max
penetration of 5km all under cave ceiling in both OC and RB80. As well long range rb80
cave dives and pSCR training in all major worldwide cave diving destinations Mexico,
Florida, France, Italy., with 567.5hr on rb80,( also similars as rb2000, Ah1, rb100, 3P).
Also developed the biggest seller pSCR unit the NT1. No other pSCR Instructor in the
world can offer that experience on these type of units.
To date he is the Director and Founder in 2001 of EJPP an ongoing project in the Ejido
Jacinto Pat, in Mexico Yucatan caves, probably the largest cave area in the World which
holds part of the actual 1st, and all of the 3rd longest cave system in the world.
Particularly famous Nohoch Na Chich & Dos Ojos been documented thru amazing
EJPP DVD production including penetrations of several kilometers thru super tight
passages, huge rooms and depths in excess of 350ft footage never done before; this
team is bringing attention to the Mexican cave systems in order to preserve them for
further exploration.
EJPP continuous project besides surveying, mapping extending the explored
passages, contribute with local and international Scientifics efforts taking samples in
order to study, water quality, flow, microfossils, bacteria and rock sediments.
His cave exploration participation efforts, Include portions of the 3 longest underwater
cave system in the world, all in Mexico in the Quintana roo state, and the deep caves in
Merida area.
As well participate in several worldwide projects including Doux de Coly, the longest
European cave system, with a longest single entrance penetration. Furthermore did part
of the EKPP survey at Doux de Coly which result in the longest penetration for a
Mexican in France.
In 2007 a Survey project for Oliero Cave system was started and many plans unfolding
in several cave systems in Italy. as well participate with the ISP team got to 3.5km cave
rb 3 scooter penetration in Italy, at Bue Marino longest cave system in Italy today.
In 2009 have employed UTD/DIR configured mCCR's technology to push the limits of
exploration and research on the Pit cave in Mexico. with bottom times over 2.5hr below
90mts/300ft and max depth of 110mt/360ft. Pit project
In his pursue of promotion of safe cave diving in Mexico, together with Joe Odom (2 time
director of the NSS-CDS and TDI Training director) review TDI cave programs and
organize the first Cave Instructor seminar for Mexican nationals (which was at the time
neglected) ,seminar held in the late 90's thru TDI Technical Diving International, as well
Trimix and Technical diving Instructor seminars at various levels.
As a strong promoter of the use of Trimix diving vs. air for deep diving needs, "proved"
the "new mix" on several hundred Trimix deep dives including a dive of 550 ft in the
Akumal wall reef and 160mt-490ft in the exploration of cave Sabak Ha, Yucatan. Also
several "Maximum Decompression" dives times of 8.5hr or more after several hrs
bottom time at extreme depths.
Nick was the first and a active promoter of the DIR system in Mexico, thru training,
seminars and diving with WKPP former director George “Trey” Irvine and even
supporting the first GUE trainings, including first Instructor Cave, and co-teaching Cave
2 diver, RB80 Rebreather diver and Technical 1 and 2 diver training in Mexico, in the
early 2000's.
As well as presentations on DIR Diving and equipment in Mexican Dive Shows and
worldwide. Furthermore he trained at some point most of the active DIR cave explorers
in Mexico, with some of his students even becoming GUE and UTD Instructors.
in the early 2000's pioneer DIR Cave training in European Caves teach the first GUE
cave 1 classes in France, setting up relationship to the first filling station and providing
the first DIR style double manifolded tanks, there was almost nobody diving this
beautiful caves and nowdays have become the premier destiantion for European cave
divers.
Reaching furhter and bringing DIR knowledge to the cave scene in Italy, Switzerland and
Spain thru personal diving, cave diving projects and the latest DIR UTD training.
Inherently working with Mfg he create and was training director for another scooter
factory training. Also had contribute established agencies as IANTD Italy and CMAS and
other new agencies; reviewing, updating or creating their cave, scooter and rb diving
programs. In the latest years have work with the military in Rebreather and DPV training
in some European countries.
He was the first UTD Unified Team Diving Instructor trainer, and develop the pSCR rb
and Cave programs for UTD and actively teaching them worldwide.
Nick had trained over 500 cave divers in the last decade.
Nick's sport training expertise and knowledge has also got him involve in a high level of
Instruction with agencies in others sports, as kitesurfing, paragliding and speedflying.
Furthermore is an active test diver for several manufacturers of diving equipment and
various sports products.
Got a logbook with excess of 3300 training dives and overall 950 students,
in which 550 cave/trimix/rb divers trained in Mexico, Florida and all over Europe.
Together with his diving experience is complemented a very experience Instructor
which also has got the c-cards to prove it.
He still trains cave, technical and rebreather divers in Mexico, Florida, and Europe
(specially in France, Spain and Italy)
He lives now in Italy looking for more challenging diving in Europe, both Caves and
Wrecks. However come backs periodically to Mexico to continue with EJPP.
